"The painful events that marked the path of humanity in the past year, especially the pandemic, teach us how it is necessary to take an interest in the problems of others and share their concerns," said the pontiff.

On the first day of 2021, Pope Francis made a beautiful reflection on how we should face the new cycle that begins today. For him, this new cycle that begins should be marked by “care” for the next, what he calls “a vaccine for the heart”.

The Pope's words were read during a celebration chaired by the Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, after the Pontiff canceled his appointments due to pain in the sciatic nerve.

“This year, while awaiting a rebirth and new treatments, let us not neglect care. In fact, in addition to the vaccine for the body, the vaccine for the heart is necessary: it is care, ”says the Pope's text, proclaimed during the Mass for the Solemnity of Saint Mary, Mother of God, and World Day of Peace.

For Francisco, “it will be a good year if we take care of others, as Our Lady does with us”, because “it is important to educate the heart to care, to take care of people and things”.

“It all starts here, taking care of others, the world, creation. There is little use in meeting many people and many things if we don't take care of them ”.

In the text, the pontiff also highlights the importance of “blessing, in the name of God”, and of avoiding the temptation to slander. “The world is seriously polluted by speaking badly and thinking badly of others, of society, of ourselves. In fact, slander corrupts, causes everything to degenerate, while the blessing regenerates, gives you the strength to start over, ”he says.

The pope also praised the “patient concreteness” of women, capable of “weaving the threads of life” and making it be born. “We are not in the world to die, but to generate life. And the holy Mother of God teaches us that the first step in bringing life to those around us is to love it within us ”, he maintains.

A week after Christmas, the Pope says that Jesus “is born of a woman and revolutionizes history with tenderness”. Reflection challenges the faithful to find “time” for God and for others, in particular “for those who are alone, for those who suffer, for those who need listening and attention”.

Through an online transmission directly the library of the Apostolic Palace, Francis recited the Angelus prayer. In addition, he went on to say that the Covid-19 pandemic revealed to the world the need to care for everyone, wishing 2021 would be a year of peace and hope.

"The painful events that marked the path of humanity in the past year, especially the pandemic, teach us how it is necessary to take an interest in the problems of others and share their concerns", he reinforced.
